Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People

This qualification is designed for those wishing to gain an advanced knowledge of Child Protection, including working towards becoming a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), manager or policy writer.

The course is taught in a hands-on manner, using active-participation methods.

This course is designed for individuals who work with children in either a paid or voluntary capacity.  It relates to the issues surrounding safeguarding children by exploring the concepts of “child vulnerability”, “child protection” and “significant harm”; coupled with the individual and organisational responsibilities of protecting children from abuse.

The course provides attendees with the knowledge, understanding and skills to recognise the signs and symptoms of child vulnerability and abuse.

Course Content

  • Understand the role of safeguarding children and young people in England and Wales.
  • Understand the different types of abuse and how to recognise them.
  • Understand the key principles of legislation which protects children and young people in England and Wales.
  • Understand the process for reporting suspected child abuse.

 

Duration:

1 day / 7 hours including breaks

Qualification Certificate:

Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (valid for 3 years). Please note, those wishing to work as ‘Safeguarding Officers’ are required to undertake further training through the school’s LEA.

This course can be used towards CPD points.

Assessment:

Multiple-choice paper and verbal assessment.

£495 (up to 16 candidates)
