Our in-depth Epilepsy awareness training course is aimed at those working with or responsible for the well being and welfare of individuals with epilepsy. The course looks at a variety of different seizures, triggers and treatment. We are able to reference individual care plans, if needed. 

The course will also explain what to do in the event of a seizure, in a variety of different environments and situations. It teachers the safe administration, storage and guidelines of Buccal Midazolam.  

This course is a vital course for any members of care staff working with or responsible for people suffering with epilepsy.

  • Definition of & facts about epilepsy
  • Classification and management of seizures
  • When to call an ambulance
  • Triggers and precipitants
  • Observing and recording
  • Managing seizures in schools
  • Care planning and recording
  • Risk assessment/promotion of safety
  • Ethical and legal responsibilities
  • Basic Life Support (CPR, Recovery Position and Management of Unconscious Casualties)

Learning Outcomes

The training will facilitate best practice guidelines and ensure that all attending will have the skills and knowledge to provide a safe, effective environment for people with epilepsy.

This course can include resuce medication – Buccal Midazolam and Rectal Diazepam administration techniques as well – please enquire if your require this addition.

The course is delivered by a UK-registered medic.

Duration

This course lasts approximately 2.5 hours. Certification valid for 1 year.
