First Aid for School Pupils and Six Form Students

This course is designed specifically for school pupils and sixth-form students.

Our aim is to equip as many children as possible with a sound knowledge of First Aid. The pupils are taught the importance of staying calm during a first aid emergency and how/when to use the lifesaving skills they have acquired.

The course is delivered by a health professional, using active participation methods. We feel our students learn most effectively when they learn through movement; the course therefore involves role-play and lots of hands-on practice with training aids. The courses are not taught using ‘shock tactics’ but are conducted in a light and fun environment.

Course Content

The course can include the following subjects. We also run the course to fulfils the requirements of the first aid element of the Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) expedition syllabus. It is suitable for the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

  • resuscitation
  • recovery position

The National Curriculum & First Aid Training for Pupils?

First aid training can be incorporated into many areas of the curriculum such as:

  • PSHE
  • Citizenship
  • PE
  • Sports Leaders Award
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Award

A number of our clients currently use the course to make up part of their enrichment program. There is an emphasis within the course to encourage students to take responsibility of their actions and to be aware of their role within society, to assist (as long as it is not putting themselves/others at risk) with the event of a First Aid Emergency.
